A series of talks on The Letter of James
|
Unlike most of the other letters found in the New Testament, the letter that James wrote is not written to a particular church or group of Christians, but is rather an open-letter written to all those who want to follow Jesus. It is found in the Bible between the letter to the Hebrews and Peter's 1st letter, and is just 5 chapters long; that's just 5 chapters long: that's only 3 and 1/2 pages in my Bible (but it is font size 6!) James' letter is as relevant and as challenging for us today as it is was to those who first read it.
This series o f talk is called Life is What You are Doing Now, because James' letter has a here and now (as well as an eternal) imperative - life is what we are doing now, so we better live the Christian life, rather just talk about it. 'Walk the talk' is the challenge of James' letter. You might want to read through the letter a couple of times before we start, as well as, as we go through the series.
