Before our vision, a little something about St James' people...
We:
- seek meaning, purpose and God
- are eager to engage with God's word and apply it
- praise God for Jesus and all He has done and continues to do through the Holy Spirit
- pray 'your will be done' and seek to do God's will
- support and care for one another
- don't 'just' tolerate, but work at loving;
- carry each other's vulnerabilities, hurts and losses
- laugh together
- are not perfect, make mistakes, but know the joy of being forgiven
- strive to be more welcoming, open and generous because that's what we've experienced in Jesus
- are a real mixed-bag
- are looking to serve
- don't always agree but try to do conflict well
- are a bit messed up in places, but seek out God's healing and reconciliation
- are thankful
- are on a journey.

Vision
Our vision at St James' is simple and Biblical; we want to see lives transformed through Jesus Christ.
We recognise that transformation is a life-long process for all of us and that we partner with God to enable His transformation in ourselves, those around us, our local community and throughout the world. At St James' we are guided by the two 'great' sayings of Jesus; the greatest commandment and the great commission: The Greatest Commandment 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.' Matt 22:37-38 The Great Commission 'Go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.' Matt 28:19-20 |
What difference does it make?
Good question. It means that everything we do at St James' is directed toward transforming lives through and in the name of Jesus Christ. And the 'great' sayings of Jesus guide us to - Love God - Love others - Go out - Make disciples Everything we do is benchmarked against these four criteria. |
