Following Bishop Emmanuel's Visit to St James'
Bishop Emmanuel’s visit to Devizes was a great success. He conveyed his heartfelt gratitude for the welcome we gave him.
His story was difficult to hear, but it is important that we can hear about their reality first hand. As a Bishop he spends much of his time working with senior officials and other members of the church. The 1st photo shows +Emmanuel (2nd from the right) with the government official (non-clergy clothing) that joined them to meet Archbishop Welby off the plane last year. That was the trip where we saw ++Justin walk past the St James Lorry on the BBC news!
The 2nd photo shows +Emmanuel in action in the Refugee Camps. This was around the time that a mother of 6, suffering from trauma and depression, threw herself in a fire and died.
The final photo shows +Emmanuel working with the Ugandan area Bishop where the Refugee Camps are located.
St James has had a relationship with the Diocese of Kajo Keji (DOKK) that spans many years, a relationship we are keen to continue to support.
Inspired by +Emmanuel’s visit and as it has been a few years since we looked at our partnership with DOKK, we plan to hold a review session on Saturday 24th March.
If you would like to come along please let Rev Keith know and you’ll get added to the invite list.
